1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies - such as localStorage- do much the same job. We use the word “cookies” below to cover both.

2. What we actually use

We use a small number of technologies, and every one of them is in the table below.

We run no advertising technology. We do count visits to the shop ourselves, with our own software on our own servers - no Google, no advertiser and no other company sees it. It works in two parts:

Anonymous visit counts - for every visitor. When a page loads we record which page it was, the site that linked to it, how long it stayed open, and the type of device and browser. Nothing is stored in your browser. To tell visitors apart for one day we combine your IP address and browser details with a random value that is deleted at the end of each day, and keep only the scrambled result - never your IP address itself. After that day, nobody, including us, can connect the count back to you.
Returning visitors - only if you switch Analytics on. We keep one random identifier in your browser so we can tell that you have visited before. Turning Analytics off deletes it.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we count nothing at all. Visit records are deleted after 13 months.

3. Categories of cookies

5. Third-party cookies

We do not control what these providers store, and we cannot delete data they hold.

6. How you control cookies

The banner. On your first visit you can Accept All, Reject Optional, or open Manage Preferences to choose category by category. Optional categories are off until you turn them on.
Cookie Settings. The link in our footer - or - reopens the same preference centre at any time.
Your browser. Browsers can block or delete cookies. That is an additional control, not a replacement for ours - our preference centre works on its own.

7. Changing or withdrawing your choice

Open Cookie Settings, switch a category off, and press Save. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as consenting: the same screen, the same number of clicks.

When you switch a category off we stop loading the technologies in it, and we delete the first-party storage listed above that we control. We cannot delete cookies or records already held by a third party on their own domain - for that, use your browser’s controls and the provider’s own tools.

8. How long your choice lasts

Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again. We also ask again if we publish a materially changed version of this policy. This period is our own policy - no Indian statute currently sets one.

9. Cookies and your personal data

Some of these technologies process personal data. The legal basis, what we collect and how long we keep it are in our Privacy Policy. Cookie consent and the lawful basis for processing are not the same thing - allowing a cookie category is not, by itself, the basis on which we process your order.
